ABOUT SARISKA TIGER RESERVE
Discover Sariska Tiger Reserve, a 1,203 sq km jewel tucked in the Aravalli hills of Alwar, Rajasthan. Steeped in history, the region appears in the Mahabharata and was once ruled by the Bargujar kings, forming part of the Gurjara-Pratihara empire. Originally the hunting grounds of Alwar’s princes, Sariska became a Wildlife Reserve in 1955, a sanctuary in 1958, and was brought under Project Tiger in 1979.
Today, Sariska is celebrated for its wildlife resilience: though tigers disappeared in the early 2000s, a careful reintroduction program restored them to the reserve, marking one of India’s most inspiring conservation success stories. Spread across core and buffer zones, the reserve’s dry terrain transforms dramatically during monsoons, with dense undergrowth and seasonal streams reviving the landscape. Summers can scorch the forest at 45°C, yet valleys retain a few pockets of life, offering dramatic safari experiences year-round. Beyond tigers, Sariska hosts leopards, striped hyenas, jackals, sambar, and a rich birdlife, making every safari an adventure through history, ecology, and survival.
Each safari here is a journey through history, survival, and the triumphant spirit of the wild.
