ABOUT JHALANA
Jhalana is unlike anywhere else a true urban wilderness set within the heart of Jaipur, where leopards thrive against the backdrop of a bustling city. Opened to tourism in 2017 as one of India’s first Project Leopard reserves, this compact dry forest of 23 sq km has quickly become one of India’s most rewarding destinations to see and photograph these elusive cats in the wild, with remarkably consistent sightings year-round.
Once the erstwhile hunting grounds of the Rajputs, Jhalana today offers a rare window into leopard life. With no other apex predators present, their interactions and social behaviours unfold here in ways seldom seen in the wild.
And just when you think it’s all about the leopards, the forest surprises you striped hyenas, desert foxes, and rich birdlife add layers to every drive. Raw, intimate, and quietly thrilling Jhalana is your perfect urban wild getaway where the wild doesn’t retreat from the city, it learns to live beside it.

Our Expertise
By Air - The nearest airport is Jaipur International Airport, just about 15–20 minutes from Jhalana. It’s well connected to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, with a few international connections as well.
By Train - Jaipur Railway Station is the closest railhead, roughly 10–12 km from Jhalana. Regular trains connect Jaipur to Delhi, Mumbai, and other key cities across India.
By Road - Jaipur is easily accessible by road, with excellent highways connecting it to nearby cities. It’s about a 5–6 hour drive from Delhi and well linked to destinations across Rajasthan. Jhalana lies within the city, making it a short drive from most hotels.
